Melbourne Tartan parade – Australian Ladies commemoration and world record setting

Female pipers and drummers from across Australia and the world are being invited to take part in a landmark event this July, as Melbourne hosts what organisers hope will become the largest ladies’ pipe band ever assembled. The gathering will take place on Sunday, 5 July 2026, in collaboration with Melbourne’s annual Tartan Day Parade.
The event commemorates two extraordinary milestones: the centenary of the Australian Ladies Pipe Band’s celebrated 1925–27 world tour, and the more than 100 years since the world’s first ladies’ pipe band was formed in Melbourne in 1918. All current and former female members of pipe bands are encouraged to participate.
