On the eve of ANZAC Day 2020, Pipe Bands Australia thanks the many hundreds of pipers across the nation who will be performing Amazing Grace at 11am.

The tribute to men and women who have served Australia in times of war, conflict and peace will continue our tradition over more than a century of providing music on ANZAC Day. This year, our tribute will also honour key workers on the frontline of the coronavirus pandemic.

Playing Amazing Grace in these challenging and difficult times allows pipers of all experience levels to perform with confidence in their neighbourhoods and participate in special commemorations.

We are also pleased that some pipers will be performing twice tomorrow – both at 11am and earlier at Dawn when the appropriate music could include Flowers of the Forest and The Battle’s O’er.

Those also performing at Dawn are requested to respect our fellow musicians in communities across Australia who will be playing the Last Post at 6am and the broadcast or televised services from the Australian War Memorial or state memorials.

Advice from the Australian War Memorial where the National Commemorative Service will be held, is that should pipers wishing to play at Dawn do so at approximately 5.45am. The time between 5.50am and until after the Last Post and Rouse have been sounded is to be clear of all other music.
