Established in 1998 by members of the Queensland Police Pipes & Drums, the Queensland Police Juvenile Pipes & Drums (QPJP&D) is one of Australia’s most successful youth Pipe Band programs. Open to young people aged 8–17, the band provides a free opportunity to learn and perform traditional Pipe Band music in a supportive, inclusive, and rewarding environment.

As the longest-running youth program operated by the Queensland Police Service and the longest-running police juvenile Pipe Band in the world, QPJP&D has developed a proud reputation for musical excellence, personal development, and community involvement. Through weekly rehearsals, individual tuition, and performance opportunities, members build confidence, discipline, teamwork, leadership skills, and lifelong friendships.

The band performs at a wide range of events throughout the year, including Pipe Band competitions, solo performer competitions, official ceremonial occasions such as ANZAC Day and National Police Remembrance Day, street parades, concerts, fundraising events, and community showcases. The dedication and talent of its members have led to significant success, including being crowned Australian Pipe Band Champions in the Juvenile Grade 4B category in 2023.

Many former members have gone on to join the Queensland Police Pipes & Drums as full, honorary, or VIP members, demonstrating the strong foundation and pathways created through the Juvenile Program.

QPJP&D rehearses every Thursday evening at the Old Museum Building on Gregory Terrace, where members receive individual instruction and participate in full band rehearsals. The band continues to inspire and develop the next generation of pipers and drummers while proudly upholding the values of excellence, commitment, and community service.
