Haileybury Pipes and Drums was established in 1957 and is an iconic element of the school’s identity. There are three registered bands within Haileybury Pipes and Drums – a Grade 3 band, a Grade 4B band, and a Juvenile Novice B band. The Grade 3 band also competes in Juvenile Novice A while the Grade 4B band also competes in Juvenile Novice B.
Collectively, the bands offer students of all playing abilities opportunities to compete in Victorian, National, and International contests.
Haileybury Pipes and Drums are 2023 Victorian Champions (Grade 4A) and 2023 World Champions (Grade 3B). Outside of competition Haileybury’s progressive approach to education offers world class tuition in these highland instruments, including VCE studies in Bagpipes and Highland Drumming. Tuition is available to enrolled students from years 4 to 12, providing personal development in leadership as well as in musicianship. Haileybury Pipes and Drums regularly performs at school occasions and State events, including the ANZAC Day March.
