Pipe Bands Australia has launched its 2026 Member Engagement Survey, inviting members and the wider pipe band community to help shape the future direction of the national Association.

Following the election of a new National Management Committee at the Association’s Annual General Meeting on 18 October 2026, the survey represents an important first step in strengthening engagement with members and ensuring their experiences, ideas and priorities are reflected in the Association’s future direction.

The survey provides an opportunity for members to share their perspectives on what Pipe Bands Australia does well, where improvements are needed and what the Association should prioritise in the years ahead.

The survey explores a broad range of topics, including membership services, support for affiliated bands, education and musical development, competitions, communication, leadership, governance and future priorities.

Importantly, the Association is seeking feedback from members across all areas of the pipe band community, including those who participate primarily in community performances, recreational activities, teaching, volunteering or administration.

The National Management Committee has committed to ensuring that the survey is more than an opportunity for members to express their views. Responses will help inform the development of national priorities and contribute to the Association’s longer-term strategic planning.

Following the conclusion of the survey, Pipe Bands Australia will publish a summary of the findings and explain how members’ feedback will inform its future work.

Invitations to participate have been distributed through Pipe Bands Australia’s national mailing list, with state branches also being encouraged to share the survey with their members and affiliated bands.

As the Association continues transitioning its membership records online, some members may not have received the invitation directly.

Members who have not received an invitation, or who become aware of the survey through their band, state branch or another member, are encouraged to contact the National Secretary at secretary@pipebandsaustralia.com.au.

This will allow the Association to provide access to the survey and check that members’ contact details are correctly recorded for future communications.

Members are also encouraged to let their fellow band members know about the survey, particularly those who may not regularly receive national communications.

As a thank you for participating, respondents will automatically enter a prize draw for one of three $100 St Kilda Retail gift cards.

Survey responses will be treated confidentially, with findings reported in an anonymised format.

The launch of the survey marks the beginning of an important conversation about the future of Pipe Bands Australia.
